“The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering.” – Bruce Lee
Do you agree with the above saying?
Right now, I don’t have much to share my thoughts about the immortality part; never gave it much of a thinking 🙂 All I know, and love to believe, ‘living is an art, an art on a day to day basis, creating a lifestyle of your own, so that as and when the day goes by, you are content with your living.’ Yes, that’s pretty much like a cycle of life. Create and live by it and get for it and vice versa 🙂
Home is one such aspect out of many, when living is counted, lifestyle is talked about.
“Your home should tell the story of who you are, and be a collection of what you love brought together under one roof.” – Nate Berkus
One such home that took my heart, is Debabrata Dey and his wife Ofelia‘s Bangalore home. It’s a rented apartment of 2150 sq.ft. The home speaks about the working couple’s love for fine-art and traditional handicrafts and the aesthetic ability to create a living space with so much of character.
Debabrata, adorably known as Deep, is a corporate leader associated with a multinational giant and his wife, Ofelia is a successful HR professional and a stunner who styles herself effortlessly chic. The couple stay at this aesthetically curated home with their two much adorable kids Dishank and Daividh who are 4.5 years and 2.5 years, respectively.
Cut back to, how I know him! When this family was in Hyderabad, I definitely wanted to visit their abode, as through a common friend I got to see some of their home pics.
Though that didn’t happen as the family moved to Bangalore; but the destined synchronicity had the plans of my meeting with the man of the creative living.
As soon as I saw him posting a snapshot of his home on his own social media, I asked him to send me across some pics of his beautiful home to me, so that I can be inspired and in turn bring out some amazing aesthetic inspiration for my readers. He was humbled yet so gracefully agreed. I did know him a little but wanted to know more. I wanted to know about his inspiration, his background, his balancing art and much more. Over a few conversations, I got to know him much better.
When asked about his inspiration for creating such lovely living space, he mentioned about his childhood days. Being a army kid, he grew up amidst the nature at a quaint army cantonment near Guwahati in picturesque Assam. Growing up as a army kid, he was exposed to various cultures and henceforth became a culturally inquisitive man. Since childhood he has been hugely influenced by the local and traditional handicrafts, from the rural areas. Over the time and years, he travelled a lot, and has been collecting some beautiful artefacts from across the nation and some internationally as well. He loves to mention about his kids
I was extremely curious for the part that if I put him in one soul, is it corporate or creative. Which one is his dominant aspect? Unlike many, he loves his corporate work by the day, and sometimes even extended to evenings as well 🙂 . And eventually he satiates his creative side with the time possible. He has already given a professional name to his creative work and that is ThumbSpark Creative. He is an artist himself. His home is adorned with some beautiful fine-art created by him. The moment I saw the art pieces, I knew, I want one by him, at my home 🙂
With all this, he can peacefully say for himself, creative and corporate both are dominant that helps each other, to bring out the best of him.
To say a little about ThumbSpark Creative, it is his platform to be a professional artist through various line of interests. I personally recommend you to definitely check his Creative Invites section. It is absolutely mind blowing. It’s vibrant, it’s colourful, it’s quirky and it is thoughtful. Said that, I must mention that he has an eye for colours. His home speaks in various beautiful colours.
As we see Debabrata’s home, it’s a very spacious, artfully decorated and showcasing his personal creative side. The apartment is built with modern architecture. And his design style is mostly with traditional art & handicrafts, that beautifully complements the new age apartment. The furniture across the home is a beautiful collection, all of mahogany wood. The living room brings the luxurious touch of the artistic apsect. Rather I must say, it looks royal, with the royal blue wing chairs. Artfully accompanied with those elephant print cushions, definitely royal! And the round mirror, is a design aesthetic. Don’t miss on the smaller artefacts placed thoughtfully in between the two wing chairs. The right placing of the decor piece, can add so much character to the space. If we see the second picture of his living room, we can observe how he has balanced the vibrancy of the wing chairs with the much subdued greyish brown lounge sofa. And if you are amazed by the beautiful painting on the wall behind the sofa, that’s Debabrata’s creation 🙂 Indeed an artist!
He is an art collector in various forms. Some speaking of history, some speaking of culture, some speaking of his creative inclination. His one of the most beloved from the collection is the “Sovereign of the Seas” that depicts a 17th-century warship of the English Royal Navy. This brilliance has been shipped to him from Vietnam by one of his friends. The mighty artefact adorns the dining area. He also has a collection of international airplanes model. And for a matter of fact he has preserved his old cameras(the classics), that adorns as a personal decor in his living room. I must say, so much inspiration to take.
Similarly the dining and the study as well, are very creative, personal and welcoming. With so much of details in his beautiful living space, I would love to leave you all here, with the visuals treats of his lovely aesthetic home, where he is creating his goodtimes with his family and friends. And seeing and getting inspired by these, I am very sure, you are gonna have pretty goodtimes 🙂
Here, I take a moment to show my gratitude & thank Debabrata and his family, who shared with me the snapshots of their welcoming abode.
I have the eternal love for beautiful homes, aesthetically created living spaces and creative decor artefacts. Home is an essential part of our livelihood & living. Creating our home with personal touch and decorating the space thoughtfully, adds value to our own life. Let’s add value to our lives 🙂
